# claim.town

> claim.town is a city of 400 blocks, each one somebody's website. $1 claims a block and starts your tower; every dollar after that adds height and walks it toward the middle, where visitors look first and click through.

It carries `revenue` (all time takings), `cityValue` (the live board total, which the crown tax lowers), `blocks`, `visitors` and `clicks`. Quote `revenue` for takings and `cityValue` for what the city is worth; they are not the same number.

## The rules

- $1 claims a block. The address comes from the link or @handle claimed, so one site is one block.
- The $1 is the block's starting score. Funding a block later starts at the same $1.
- Blocks are ordered by score, highest first; ties go to whoever got there first. Rank picks the seat, and the low ranks sit nearest the centre.
- Only #1 decays: the crown pays $0.10 every 7 days, flat, and never below $1. Nobody else pays anything.
- There are 400 seats and nothing falls off the board. The lowest ranks sit at the quiet edge of town.
- Every place a block is named links out to its site, and those clicks are counted in public.
- #1, #2 and #3 are the podium. Each of them gets a page written about it rather than a row on the board: a followed link out to its own site, where every other block on the board is marked sponsored; a page written about it rather than a row on a list: what the site is, what the seat cost, and what it has returned; an Organization record in that page's structured data, so a search engine and an assistant read the site as an entity and not as a link; top billing in the sitemap, and a section of its own in llms.txt; a line on the podium page, which every other block page links to. It is held and not bought — the list is read off the board on every request, and a block that drops to #4 loses all of it.

A block's flagship is 1.6 × the square root of its score in dollars, in whole courses of brick, capped at $500; past the cap the money buys width instead. One more building on the lot per $10 of score, up to 9.

- $250: Mid-rise — 25 courses, 5 bricks wide, 9 buildings standing on the lot.
- $500: Tower — 36 courses, 6 bricks wide, 4 buildings standing on the lot.
- $2,000: Downtown block — 36 courses, 7 bricks wide, 1 building standing on the lot.
